Preschool Screenings

The Colorado Preschool Program is a program funded by the Colorado Department of Education. This program is designed for three and four-year old children with a variety of at-risk factors. Screening is held annually in order to identify those children eligible for this program. The number of children serviced through this program is determined by the allocation of program funds by the Colorado Department of Education. For information on the Colorado Preschool Program, please call Aurora Public Schools Early Childhood Department at 303-364-9371 or visit ece.aurorak12.org

Screening For APS Preschool Program

Screening procedures for the APS Preschool Program is a 3-step process:

    1. Screening
    2. Registration
    3. Enrollment

Note: The APS Preschool Program has limited availability. Participation in this 3-step process does not guarantee placement. For additional questions, please call the Early Childhood Education Department at 303-364-9371.

Your child's birth certificate is required at the time of screening for age verification. If your name does not appear on the child's birth certificate, you MUST bring legal documentation of guardianship. You also must provide approved proof of address to prove residency in APS. See the ECE website for details.

*Children must be 3 or 4 years old, on or before, October 1, 2017. If you have questions regarding the schedule above, please call 303-364-9371. Students are not placed on a first come basis. Placement does not begin until all scheduled screenings are completed. Due to limited space, attendance of a screening does not guarantee placement.

Children 2 years of age before Oct. 1, 2017 will not begin class until they have turned 3 years old.

*Current preschool students advancing to kindergarten in August 2017, do not need to re-register at the Centralized Admissions. You must enroll your child in the school they will be attending for kindergarten for the 2016-17 school year. Most APS Elementary Schools will begin kindergarten enrollment in mid-April 2017.

Please inquire at your child's elementary or K-8 school regarding kindergarten enrollment dates and times.
